Choose by project scope, not the hiring channel
A freelance packaging designer can be a good fit for a clearly defined label or a single pack. A specialist studio can be useful when one project connects concept design, several SKUs, supplier artwork, multilingual versions and launch visuals. Either can handle complex work when the relevant experience, capacity and responsibilities are documented.
Upwork, Fiverr and Freelancer are places to find providers. A listing does not, by itself, tell you whether structural work, production checks or editable source files are included. Read the individual proposal and review relevant examples. This guide compares purchasing decisions, not the quality of everyone on a platform.
What should you compare in a packaging proposal?
| Decision | A focused single-pack brief | A range or market launch |
|---|---|---|
| Design system | One approved format and product | Master layout, variants and rules for future SKUs |
| Technical inputs | Confirmed supplier template and supplied copy | Several templates, materials or production partners |
| Review | One decision maker and defined rounds | Brand, supplier and language review stages |
| Delivery | Named artwork and source formats | Versioned artwork set, handover and optional render set |
| Best question | Can you show a comparable finished pack? | Who owns consistency and final file control? |
Example: one coffee pouch becomes six SKUs
Consider a hypothetical brief for three coffee varieties in two pack sizes. There are six final pack versions, but that does not automatically mean six original design concepts. A useful proposal separates the master direction, flavour adaptations, size adaptations and the production check for each file.
If you later add a second language, confirm whether it fits the existing back panel or requires a separate market version. If you also need three ecommerce views per SKU, that is an additional render scope. This breakdown makes two quotes easier to compare without assuming the lowest headline price covers the entire launch.
See how these factors affect packaging design cost and how a private-label packaging system handles range extensions.
Seven questions to ask before hiring
- Can I see work in a similar pack format, including the side and back panels?
- Will you use my supplier’s approved dieline, and who confirms dimensions?
- How many design directions and revision rounds are included?
- Which SKUs, languages and sizes are part of the quote?
- Do I receive editable artwork, linked assets and a final PDF?
- Who approves copy, claims, translations and barcode data?
- What happens if the design team requests a technical correction after handover?
Use our packaging designer selection guide when reviewing portfolios. A beautiful render is useful evidence of presentation skill; ask separately to see how final artwork is organised.
What a production handover should name
Agree the supplier template version, artwork filename, SKU, language, output format and approval status. Bleed, colour profiles, finishes and other technical settings should follow the design team’s confirmed specification. Avoid treating a generic “final” label as a substitute for that agreement.
Our final packaging artwork service explains the production scope. For models and launch images, review 3D product visualization separately. Final legal copy and market approval remain assigned to the brand and its reviewers.
Hiring a packaging design studio in Türkiye
For an international project, confirm the working language, review schedule, currency, payment stages and supplier location before choosing a provider. Agree how comments are collected so that contradictory stakeholder feedback does not become separate artwork versions.
Packaging Design Center works from Türkiye with international clients remotely. Explore our international packaging design workflow, packaging portfolio and published starting price ranges to assess fit. The proposal should define the work for your product, regardless of where you first found the designer.
Prepare a brief that makes quotes comparable
Send the product category, target customer, sales channels, pack formats, dimensions, SKU list, languages, available brand files and desired launch date. Mark each input as approved, draft or missing. Request separate lines for concept work, adaptations, artwork and visuals.
Read the packaging design brief guide, then send your project for a scoped quote. We can identify missing inputs before committing to the final deliverables.
